Golden Hour Light

A wicker basket, a red blanket, and the last ninety minutes of sun. The Alvarez family picnic — equal parts session and supper — in the Presidio's golden evening glow.
The session
The Alvarez crew does a Sunday picnic every September, and this year they invited me along. We shot between bites — lemonade toasts, a dog negotiating for chicken, and grandma teaching the kids a card game mid-frame.
Golden hour did the heavy lifting; I just kept everyone loose and facing the glow. The basket, it turns out, was also an excellent bribery device for toddlers.
